Wheel of fun.Jun 13, 2011
By John E. Cardwell III
"Research For The Best"
This expansion adds another level to carcassonne. A level of chance and probability, but not too much.
What i like about carcassonne is that is is a balanced game as far as strategy, and this expansion stays along those lines. Invest too much in the wheel and lose out other places etc.
Once you know the probability of a certain number being dran and where the pig will end up, this expansion should increase your scores, but be nice and let others in on your little tricks ;-)

Simple to learn, entertaining, and can get very complex!Apr 16, 2011
By facepalm This is one of those games that looks rather inocuous at first glance. It's very simple in concept, and extremely easy to learn. However as you pick it up, the games can get very involved (especially with the expansion packs.)
Another classic from Rio Grande.
Christmas GiftJan 09, 2012
By A. Furtwengler My wife and I received Carcassonne: Wheel of Fortune as a Christmas gift and we were very eager to try it. We've struggled to find board games that play well with only 2 players. We were not disappointed.
Having never heard of or played a game similar to Carcassonne in the past (we're used to the traditional board games with a fixed board) we had a couple stumbles regarding "meeple" placement and scoring, but a quick online search cleared everything up.
While we both feel that the wheel adds a fun random quality to the game, we agree that "betting on the wheel" by placing meeples on it isn't worth the lost ability to play the "meeple" on land tiles - we've also played with a larger group and find it to be the same risk v. reward loss.
However, the short yet very entertaining game play (1.5 hours versus many hours of monopoly), definite end-point (game is over when the tiles run out), and countless possibilities (random tile drawing, random wheel, etc) make this a game that I'm sure we'll reach for over and over again. I would highly recommend Carcassone and, who knows, as our strategy gets better betting on the wheel may win or lose the game.
We're now trying to figure out which expansion would be best...
